This is another collaboration shots with my friend AWT but this is one more like... we-want-to-shoot-more after the RENOIR pieces are done lol. Seriously, having a stylist for a photoshoot like this is super helping. You see the picture that Kath wears a flowery skirt? The top she used is also a skirt! Our stylist put some magic to it. HAHA.

Since there are too many photo shoot I had, I really can't decide which one I should post first. Huff..
Anyway, it's CHRISTMAS EVE today! YAY!

Stay tuned for tomorrow. I'll post something really cute and pretty :)

CELINE IS BACK

8:48 AM

Finally, after a it-looks-like-a-long-back, she's FINALLY BACK!
My favorite friend and model for my portfolio, (drum rolls), CELINE!

You might have seen her somewhere in my works, yes, she did it.. mmm.. a couple times? I don't think so. It was since loooong time ago, when I was still a high-schooler, she had been my model since then.
I still remember our first photo shoot is about fallen angel and puppet-like. It was soooo ridiculous for me to have that kind of works which happens to be my final project in IB Diploma. Well, life must go on right? Haha.

Then our next shots is more like.. I forgot, Harajuku girls? Ah yes! Harajuku girls and more like Bella Swan-mood and vintage. I guess I have myself in the right track because I'm starting to have more fashion taste there. Geez. I also remember that day, it was an outdoor session and it started to rain. Oh yeaaah baby. That's why we need to wrap it up really quick, however, the photos turned out AWESOME!

The thing is, what I really like from Celine is that her face have 'its' mood. HAHA. I bet you don't get it. It's like this, she can do REALLY FIERCE face, DEPRESSED gloomy face, CUTE face, SEXY face, DREAMY face, and many more. She almost did it all. It's her talent and I super love it. Don't you, photographers? It's a bit hard to find someone that can do so many moods in every picture.

OK. Back to the Harajuku thing. Hmm.. After that, we did that IU-inspired theme with more sorrow pictures. And now, she do it again with a different theme and a little bit of twist.

Well, I should stop talking and just let you guys watch the teaser.

Enjoy!

Chefs-d'œuvre Project

12:05 PM

Bonjour!
I'll turn myself into a French lady for a while :D

Currently, I'm doing this collaboration project with my new photographer friend, AWT. At first, I was thinking that this is gonna be my new personal project. Then after thinking for a while, I decided to make this as a collaboration with other fellow photographer.

The original concept is basically replicating some Impressionist paintings into a photograph. Not making it EXACTLY the same, but also modifying it to a modern style. Why Impressionist? Because I love it. HAHAHA. Well, personally I love Impressionist paintings, especially Degas. Then I bought a book about best Impressionist paintings and what paintings you should know. I loved it too much that make me can't sleep. The idea is running around my mind, wanted to do photoshoot so bad on it.

Another reason why I choose Impressionist because it's so natural that people will know what painting is this and who the subject. For more history knowledge, please do look at Google. And as a person that learn classical piano, I knew some of Impressionist music and their characteristics. Both in music and painting, the style is so me. Naturalistic yet imaginary. So, yeah. This is the reason why.

Because this is a series project and Impressionist painter are so many, I picked some of the names that people know about. The first one will begin with a man called Pierre-Auguste Renoir. He's well-known by his portrait works.

I will not tell you which of his paintings I used in the series. Surprise awaits!

My 'electric banana' Manic Panic dye has arrived, however, the orange red dye I used last time has not fade yet. Seriously, I guess it will not fade for a while nor saturating. OMO! So yesterday, I decided to try on the Manic Panic and it turns out like this. YELLOWISH ORANGE!

Well, I like it much but what do you think?

MODERN TIMES

3:56 PM

Some people might say that I'm truly a K-POPers. I can't denied it but it's not completely true. I'm not a person that keeping all korean songs in my iTunes. I'm a selective one. I only collected what I think it's good enough for my ears.

This time I would like to expose one of the Korean singers I like. I'm not a huge fan of her but her new album is worth to be discuss.

Lee Ji-eun 이지은 known as IU, just released her newest album with the title "Modern Times". If you eager much to know the songs included in the album, go check in Sound Cloud. She used many genre in this album, such as bossa nova, jazz, latin pop and many. I think that even though the title is "Modern Times" but her songs are all in oldies mood.

Even her cover album photos and the photos related are mostly in 1970s (?) mood. It's great that now she shows her maturity more. She's the Korean's "little daughter" after all. So from being cute, innocent, and sweet, she transformed into more sexy and feminine.

I was surprised while browsing in Google that she also had some photos with Ga In from Brown Eyed Girls. Ga In, if you don't know, she's the woman in PSY's Gentleman music video. She's knows as the sexy woman in Korea. That's why I was kinda shocked. Then I found out that there's a song in the album where Ga In featuring in. Aaahh.. OK then.

Here are some more photos of IU and also Ga In.

I LOVE IT! Even though IU can't be as sassy sexy as Ga In but she still nailed it. The one with the pink hair is so ME. HAHAHA. VIVA PINK HAIR! OK that's enough.

Now I wish I can get some people that I can drag and do these kind of photoshoot with me :p

Top Zara / Snapback TheMbamoeVectory

It's been a while since I update my lookbook. When was the last time? Hmm..

I finally run out of the pink color dye so I just waiting for my Manic Panic dye to come. YAY!! Viva ombré!

I wonderstruck to this snapback. It IS really one of a kind in the world. It was made and designed originally by my fellow friend, TheMbamoeVectory. They were my new friends and they're SUPER TALENTED! I saw this snapback back then during their final project exhibition (I saw it through Instagram of course) and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! Then after few times of thinking again and again, I decided to buy it from them. TEE-HEE!

Ah! And that top I wore, it's Zara's. I found it a while ago and it seems that nowadays baseball tees are too mainstream, don't they? However those are way unique than the ordinary baseball tee. Totally my style eh?

Sexy Back

11:30 AM

Uuu another update from me!

This time I want to share something to you guys. Well, kinda self confession time. Tee hee. I hope you understand.

When I decided myself to work in this fashion industry, I said to myself that I'm ready to do everything. Not just the ordinary editorial shots but also the mature one. You know, the 21+ one. It's not about me being pervert or anything but yeaah.. it's about the art. I thought about it and set my mind.

Then I had this chance to shoot something like that. It's not gonna be use for editorial or what, it's purely just for fun and experimenting. Honestly, I was so nervous because I never do something like this. I was sooo afraid to go beyond my imagination. HAHAHA. Seriously, lesson learned from this photo shoot and thank you for this opportunity.

The picture above is the first teaser of the whole photo shoot. Not only that but I also did some cosplay shots with the models.

Do wait for it! Ciao~

Hymn to Hope

11:45 PM

Heyyy everybody! How's your days?
I'm graduating already and now i'm on my way to pursue the next thing in life, that's MAKING MONEY! oh my God, my head.

So, I haven't introduce this guy formally here but I think I've mentioned about him in my previous posts. One of my best friends, Evan a.k.a Papercaptain, is doing his personal project nowadays. Honestly, I really want to do something together with him, collaborating or something but I don't think it's possible since Evan is really a busy person. Then I asked him for a special request, draw something for me. HAHAHA. Well, I had this song in my mind since a long time ago but I haven't had a chance to do something about it.

Hymn to Hope, composed by Secret Garden, a really famous new age artist. I've been in love with these guys and I found a vocal version (in Korean) of that song, sung by Youngok Shin. This song gives you hope, literally. After I translated the lyrics myself to English, I was kind of sad. The song was supposed to be give me hope to live but then I realized that the meaning is too tragic for me.

"난 돌아왔죠.. 세상의 끝에서..." (I'm coming back.. When the world ends..)
"때론 지치고.. 힘들고 서글퍼도..." (Sometimes it's tiring, difficult and troubled..)

It seems like it's about the END. I don't know why but I'm dropping tears when I listening to this song. OK. Back to the story. Then, I asked Evan to draw something from this song. Based on this song. He asked me which part of the lyrics I liked the best. There's this lyric,

"세상의 모든 꿈.." (All the dreams of the world)

This particular part, when I first heard it, I felt.. peace. The dreams of the world? It's so beautiful, isn't it?

And finally, this is what Evan came up with.

He combined it with Japanese art style and also its folklore, Kaguya. I was so surprised when I found out that Kaguya have red black ombré hair!
Looks like the fashion sense of our Papercaptain is finally come out eh?
Well, it's a wraaapp!

When I first heard this song, The Cinematic Orchestra's version, I thought I really lost my soul. I saw their official music video too and it's truly beautifully amazing. This song, for me, is something else. I never fell so deeply by a certain song. Well, maybe once but this time it's different. I felt this kind of.. I don't know how to say it. It's really dreamy yet sucking you out into a certain atmosphere, something that you don't really understand.

I should create an artwork based on this song, that's what I thought back then. I hold it for a long time because I couldn't find the right girl to portray this song perfectly. Then I saw one of my juniors in uni doing his project, using this girl as his subject. But I'm still in doubt, honestly. I'm not saying that she's not pretty or what, yes she's really pretty, but hesitating whether she's the right one or not. In my hometown, most models or girls have this edgy, vogue-ish look and it's not really what I wanted. I need someone dreamy and sincere.

Here it is. It fits my interpretation of the song. Thank you to this girl, Michelle, for being a great and beautiful model :)

To those of you who are interested on the song, don't listen to the Miley Cyrus's version. It gives you different feel and I don't really like it.

Here's the link for 'The Cinematic Orchestra''s version here

Confession of a Pink-haired Girl

4:02 PM

First of all, I'm sorry that you might think that this is annoying and another shit I want to be angry about. I didn't intended to insult anyone or anything here, however, it's just hard for me to keep this alone so I just want to say whatever it is, explicitly, and I hope that you guys can understand myself. If you are afraid to be insulted, then just leave this place NOW before you read.

The reason why I put the title this way is because what I want to share right now and I think that maybe some people might feel the same way.

WARNING!

Whatever I'm telling from now on, it happened in my surroundings, my country.
Let's begin.

Since I was in Junior High, I did SO MUCH experiments on my hair. Getting straighten, curled, dye this and that colors, chopped my hair this style, and so on. Sometimes I did get afraid of having some 'eccentric' hair style but I guess it's normal to anyone. Until today. And also my fashion style is also.. well, a bit strange. I used to like wearing some kind of punk, emo, rock style and now i'm more like swaggy hipster (it's K-Pop syndrome fyi). It's because what I got from everyone around me. The moment I dyed my hair OMBRÉ (see my first black-pink ombré?), I got various reactions from many people. When I was still in Singapore, they reacted 'WOW! It's cool!' and similar things happened. I met many girls dyed their hair with blue or green color, not ombré hair, whole head. For me, it's AWESOME! How cool is that? I also looked some Thai boys, and Koreans of course, did the same thing. It's just normal. I mean, that's one of the many ways to express your style, right?

Unfortunately, I suffered a lot when I came back to Indonesia. Sorry to say but it seems that they're waaaaayyyy too lame. You know, stereotyping people. I got those bunch of 'that girl is so weird' look, even mocking me behind my back. For me, it's like... I feel that the whole world is calling me a weirdo. It's like they think that I'm a bad girl or something like that. SERIOUSLY, WAKE UP! You live in the 21st Century, not the 1800s! What's wrong if my hair pink? Is it an illegal thing to do? I give you some examples. Last year, I went to Jakarta. I thought that they're more open to these kind of things than people in Surabaya (I must say the city for this comparison). I thought they're more fashionista than in Surabaya. Then I once going up on an escalator in some mall and there were 2 guys behind me saying this, 'Look! The girl in front of us is too K-Pop. Why the Korean syndrome is too mainstream nowadays? It's really weird you know, having pink hair. She have no shame'.

I'm like.. WHAT DA ****?!

OK. Next example, it happened in Surabaya a while ago. Seriously, it's like few days ago. These 2 girls is queued in front of me but one of them is looking towards my direction (I stand behind her). Then her friend told her, 'Hey! Look the girl behind you. She had pink hair'. Then the girl who is in front of me, looking to the back and saw me but I pretend not to know what they're doing. Then she said to her friend, 'Wow. Seriously, is that real hair? I think she used hair chalk or extension hair or something. She have guts ya dyeing her hair like that'. It's not finished yet. There's a couple walking across me and the boy said to his girlfriend like this, 'See that girl! She have pink hair. You don't copy her ya!'. I was holding my laugh really hard. Dear people, look what you've done to me. Not all people can handle this, true? People with no confident will automatically dye their hair back to the natural color, maybe even dyeing back to black. See, beauty is not only about having LONG AND BLACK HAIR. Pink hair is also beauty. It's just another style to express their beauty. Do you really think that having pink hair is ugly? Then just go die lah.

I really gained a lesson from my pink hair, that is DON'T CARE WHAT PEOPLE THINK OR SAY ABOUT YOU. YOU ARE YOU AND IT'S YOUR OWN STYLE. My mom (thanks to her for allowing me to dye it pink) said to me that it's better you do whatever you want with your hair, color it rainbow or anything, WHEN YOU ARE STILL YOUNG. But when you age more, stop doing it. Can you just imagine 60 years old granny dyeing her hair BLUE? It doesn't make sense right?

That's why, pleaseee, do respect and keep your mouth shut. If you think that this is weird, just keep it to yourself. Just don't show it to us and think that we will follow what you are expecting. Haters will keep hating but I don't really care. To those of you who feel the same way, start doing what i'm doing.

Be confident and proud of your hair. It costs a lot of money you know and it's your own style. So, if you have thoughts or anything, feel free to express it here.

CIAO.

Update in 2/1/2017:

Can't I laugh now?

I was amazed by how people in Indonesia are trying to dye their hair ombré, or purple hair or any "weird" hair color these days. 5 FUCKING YEARS. The first time I arrived in Indonesia, from Singapore, with my pink ombré hair, and after 5 YEARS, after all the mockings, they started to "copy" me.

Good job people. You are just being so out-dated.

My brain was stuck, finding a great idea for this one. Honestly, I can't think of anything to interpret this one. But then on set, I got some ideas that might be suitable for Time and Space. It turns out a little bit Alice-like but whatever. It still fits, right? It's kinda witch-look-alike with the hat and the black dress but it's what witch do, isn't it? They travel time, manipulated time, and going through 'space' or I should call it as portal. I guess I watched Harry Potter too much =="
